John Sahatjian, IAAI-CFI, is a Senior Instructor with Superior Emergency Training and brings over 25 years of experience in the fire service. He served as Chief of Department in Wall Township, New Jersey, for seven years and currently holds the rank of Captain, serving as Team Lead for the Brick Township Technical Rescue Team.

John holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and is certified as a New Jersey Level II Fire Instructor and Fire Officer II. He works full-time as a private fire investigator, conducting origin and cause investigations throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York City.

A published contributor to Fire Engineering magazine and NJ Firefighters Magazine, John writes on topics including mental health, leadership, and vehicle extrication. In addition to instructing across New Jersey, he serves as an instructor with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety and is actively involved in developing the next generation of firefighters.

John is passionate about advancing mental health awareness in the fire service, strengthening firehouse culture, and elevating training standards across the profession.
