Christopher P. Sorrentino is a career Lieutenant with the City of Plainfield, New Jersey, where he currently serves as the department’s Training Officer. Sorrentino was a student of the Superior Fire & Emergency Response Training for promotional examinations.
Sorrentino began his fire service career in 2002 as a volunteer firefighter in Piscataway, New Jersey. In 2015, he was hired as a career firefighter with the City of Plainfield. Prior to entering the career fire service, Sorrentino worked in the fire protection industry as a union sprinkler fitter and fire protection specialist throughout the Tri-State area. He has also served as the Fire Official for two municipalities and currently serves as a Deputy Fire Marshal. Additionally, he has instructed confined space rescue programs across the United States.
He holds certifications as a Fire Marshal, Fire Investigator, and Fire Instructor. He also maintains technician-level certifications in rope rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, and swiftwater rescue, and is a PADI-certified diver. He serves as an instructor at the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center, where he teaches a wide range of programs from Firefighter I through Water Rescue. He is the Lead Instructor for Fire Inspector, Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC), Fire Officer I and II, and Firefighter II courses. He is also an active member of a county technical rescue team.
